The place is close to the station, and has various kinds of sweets and teas. The sweets are good and it has a very nice atmosphere. A good stop for a break after taking a long bus ride.

"A Decent Option for a Hassle-Free Meal in Ohara" After arriving at our onsen hungry, we went searching for food nearby. One restaurant only accepted reservations, and another had a long line for buffet service, so we eventually decided on a place called Sawada. The auntie who served us was very hospitable and made an effort to converse with us in English, which was a nice touch. Our orders arrived warm, and the tempura was impressively crispy. However, we felt there was a bit too much tofu in both our dishes. While the tofu was well-prepared, it was overwhelming, especially for someone like me who doesn’t eat much seafood. Unfortunately, there were no chicken, beef, or pork options, so tofu ended up being my sole source of protein. While I enjoyed it, a little more variety would have made the meal more balanced. The restaurant itself is set in a well-maintained old house, and the toilet facilities were clean enough. Overall, it’s a solid choice if you’re looking for a convenient, hassle-free meal. Recommended.

Nice, cozy place with polite staff. Plays classical piano music in the background (Chopin's Polanaises?) Seems like the only place which sells coffee near the temple. Cafe latte is literally hot coffee with milk :) No complaints, since that's all I need in the morning.

A nice place to eat after visiting shorin temple. Food sets definitely generous portions, and staff were so sweet. Translation on menu is tourist friendly. We tried tempura, soba and cold tofu set, very good.
